The Ag Promotion Award was initiated in 2009 to recognize individuals and/or groups for their efforts to improve the understanding of agriculture in their communities.

How to Apply or Nominate an Individual or Group
Eligible efforts include a single event, ongoing program, or educational tool that increases the understanding of NY agriculture. Apply yourself or nominate someone else! Efforts submitted for judging must have been conducted within the past 24 months preceding the submission deadline of September 1st. Previous winners are ineligible. Awards for Individual and Group categories will be presented at the Society’s annual forum in January.
Share your story! This should be typewritten and of sufficient length to describe each area below. (Please title each section) Lastly, please submit 3 high quality photos with your application. If you are a winner, these will be used for the award presentation and in the Forum Program book.
Explain the purpose of your group effort, your objectives and goals. Describe how your group organized, how many are involved, how you secured support, how you attracted media and how you promoted your educational event/program/educational tool. Explain how your group felt the objectives would be met through the planned activity.
Describe your program activities; what was done, roles and contributions, and how information about NY agriculture was shared.
Explain your results. List number of persons reached in-person and through media, etc. Describe how you think your educational event/program or educational tool affected public attitudes about NY agriculture.
We all know someone who has taken the mission of agricultural promotion to an awe-inspiring level! Please tell us what this individual does to educate others about NY agriculture. Include the individual’s activities, farming operation or career, committee or board participation, or any other pertinent information that helps describe your nomination’s dedication and commitment to cultivating an understanding of NY agriculture. If possible, please share photos!
One individual and one group winner will receive a cash award of $200. The Committee reserves the right to adjust awards based on the availability of sponsor funds. Winners will be invited to share an exhibit of his/her program during the NYS Agricultural Society’s Annual Forum in January.
