“CAP” CREAL JOURNALISM AWARD COMPETITION

Awards of $100 per winning ENTRY will be given at the Society’s Annual Meeting luncheon at the Syracuse/Liverpool Holiday Inn on Thursday, January 9, 2009

Categories and guidelines

Ag media = Published or produced primarily for audiences involved in agriculture.

General media = Published or produced primarily for general “not only agricultural” audiences.

  • Print Single Article: Written by one or more people.
  • Print Series: More than one article written by the same person(s)
    on a single theme, published on different dates in the same periodical.
  • Photo (in Ag or General media): One award given to the photographer.
  • Editorial/column/commentary: Written by one person.
  • Electronic: One video, TV broadcast, radio broadcast, or website.
    Produced by one or more people.

Entries must be published or aired between September 1, 2007 and August 31, 2008

“Membership-only” newsletters or periodicals, or parts therein, are not eligible.
News releases, in news release form, are not eligible.

A whole issue of any newsletter or periodical is not eligible. Several issues of the same newsletter or periodical are not eligible. However, an editorial, column, commentary, article, or series within newsletters or periodicals are eligible.

Anyone can enter. The entry must be authored or produced by the person with the byline or credit and published/aired in professional media. Submit the entry, in the original published/broadcast form, to the Journalism Award Chair. Copies of an entry will not be accepted. For print entries, submit the whole “tear sheet;” not just a “clipped-out” section of the entry. Anyone can enter for someone else but only the person(s), with the byline or credit, published/broadcast in the media, get one $100 cash award. Certificates of winning will also be given. Limit of one entry, per person, per category.
