NYS AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY SEEKING BICENTENNIAL FARMS

New York Farms Operating 200 Years Sought For Recognition

The New York State Agricultural Society is seeking applications from New York farms in continuous ownership by the same family for 200 years or more. The farms selected from applications received will be honored as "Bicentennial Farms" at the Society's Annual Meeting January 5, 2012, in Liverpool.

Since 1937 the Society has celebrated farms that have thrived for hundreds of years in the hands of the same family. It is a hallmark role of the organization. This year, the Society is seeking to recognize Bicentennial Farms from across the state.

"Recognizing Bicentennial Farms allows us all to appreciate and honor the wonderful heritage of agriculture in New York," said Society President Dave Tetor. To obtain an application, click on the link below.  All completed applications must be received by September 1, 2011.

The New York State Agricultural Society was organized in 1832 to foster the state's food and agriculture industry. The Society's original mission--to improve the condition of agriculture through education, leadership development and recognition programs--remains its focus today.
